Three Weeks In — Another Encouraging Step

Only three weeks into building our new Men's Division 1 squad, NC United FC welcomed another significant preseason challenge on August 22.

This time the opponent was Gastonia City FC — last season's Men's Division 1 champion, whose success earned promotion to the Premier Division. Testing ourselves against higher-tier opposition was a deliberate choice this preseason.

The final score was 3–2 in Gastonia's favor, but once again, the result tells only part of the story.

NC United competed confidently, showed encouraging organization and quality in possession, and demonstrated for meaningful stretches of the match that this developing group can compete with experienced, higher-tier opposition.

For a team that has trained together for only three weeks, the progress is exciting. Most importantly, the performance reinforced what the coaching staff has been seeing in training: there is a strong foundation here, and there is much more to build.

We thank Gastonia City FC for a competitive and valuable preseason match, and we recognize our players, families, and supporters who continue helping this team grow. The work continues.

Developing Players. Building Character. Honoring God.
